Dyslexia Assessment
I am a fully qualified assessor with AMBDA and an Assessment Practising Certificate (APC).
A diagnostic assessment for Dyslexia builds a profile of strengths and difficulties, which informs a potential diagnosis. I combine this profile with my extensive teaching experience, to offer practical recommendations for individuals, their families and teachers.
A diagnostic assessment also provides evidence needed to support applications for exam access arrangements for SATs, GCSEs, A levels, university exams and professional qualifications. Access arrangements can include: extra time; use of assistive technology; use of a reader or scribe.
I am passionate about enabling my students to overcome barriers to learning and achievement, unlocking their strengths and potential.
My approach is professional and personal, and I provide the following:
Private Tuition
My Primary and Secondary English teaching experience spans Key stages 2 to 5 in mainstream schools, and I have over 20 years’ experience as a GCSE English teacher and GCSE examiner. I also have extensive experience as an intervention teacher and an independent tutor to students who are home-schooled, or looking for extra support.
I have a full understanding of literacy demands across the curriculum to examination level, and the challenges faced by all students, as well as students with Dyslexia.
I’m a strengths-driven specialist teacher, with a focus on enabling students to use their individual learning styles and skills to reach their potential. I have seen how developing good literacy skills builds self-esteem and confidence, which then positively impacts on students’ sense of themselves as learners, and their ability to achieve their goals.
